Review Methodology
Last updated: July 24, 2026
LawyerAI reviews legal AI tools with a consistent editorial framework. The goal is to help lawyers compare tools by legal workflow fit, practical evidence, and risk signals rather than vendor claims.
The 5-Dimension Score
- Accuracy: how reliably the tool handles legal language, citations, document context, and jurisdiction-sensitive work.
- Speed: time to first useful output, batch workflow support, and how much manual cleanup the tool creates.
- Usability: onboarding, interface clarity, collaboration, export quality, and whether a lawyer can use it without heavy setup.
- Value: pricing transparency, feature depth, seat economics, and whether the workflow saves enough time to justify adoption.
- Security: public security documentation, data handling, retention controls, training opt-out, compliance signals, and deployment options.
Review Types
- Hands-on review: LawyerAI directly tested the product or participated in a documented product demo. A dated, non-placeholder numeric score may be published.
- Research-based analysis: LawyerAI evaluated public documentation, pricing, security material, and attributable third-party signals without claiming direct product use. These analyses may publish a verdict, pros, cons, and evidence, but do not receive new numeric scores.
- Unreviewed listing: the directory record exists, but an independent review is still pending.
Evidence We Use
- Official product pages, pricing pages, docs, and changelogs.
- Public security pages, trust centers, and compliance statements.
- Hands-on editorial testing when available.
- Public user reports and third-party review signals when relevant.
Citation and Data Sources
Dataset-level claims should cite the Legal AI Tools Statistics 2026 report. Workflow-level claims should cite the Best Legal AI Tools by Workflow hub or a controlled workflow page. Individual tool claims should cite the relevant item page and its listed source URLs.
What We Do Not Score
We do not publish aggregateRating or Review structured data for tools that have not received a real editorial score. Unreviewed listings are marked as pending instead of receiving placeholder scores.
Update Rules
- Pricing, security, and integration fields are refreshed when source pages change or during scheduled freshness checks.
- Vendors may submit factual corrections. Commercial relationships do not change editorial scores.
- Each reviewed tool should show a reviewed or verified date where evidence is available.
Independence
Featured placement and sponsorship are separate from editorial scores. See our Editorial Independence and Disclosure pages for details. Factual corrections follow the Corrections Policy, and vendors or readers can reach the editorial team through Contact LawyerAI.
