The Principle
At LawyerAI, Featured placement and editorial scores are completely separate systems. A tool can pay for a Featured listing and still receive a low score. A tool can have a perfect 5.0/5.0 score and choose not to be Featured.
How Scores Are Determined
- 5 dimensions: Accuracy · Speed · Usability · Value · Security
- Hands-on reviews: numeric scores require a dated, completed review. Research-based analyses are labeled separately and do not receive new numeric scores.
- Updated when: new information becomes available — not when vendors request changes
- Vendor requests: vendors may submit factual corrections; scores are not changed based on commercial relationships
What "Featured" Means
- Featured tools appear at the top of category listings and are marked with a "Featured" badge
- Featured is a paid placement (see /pricing for rates)
- Featured tools are labeled "Sponsored" or "Featured" throughout the site
- Featured placement does not affect the tool's 5-dimension scores.
What We Will Never Do
- Change a score because a vendor pays or threatens to stop paying
- Remove a negative review because of commercial pressure
- Accept payment to write positive editorial content
Revenue Sources
- Featured listings (paid placement · clearly labeled)
- [Future] Newsletter sponsorships (clearly labeled)
- Affiliate commissions on eligible self-service tools (disclosed near the link)
- Qualified lead or demo-request fees for eligible enterprise tools (disclosed near the form)
- Commercial value is never used as a scoring or organic ranking input
